Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one go without the need to switch between devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its modest price, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that mops up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you can opt for the robot to take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too as the robot is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only drawback is that it tends to hit objects and walls at a high speed, but an instant glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station has an LCD display that displays the time when maintenance is required like emptying the debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent into the water tank by itself with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being capable of running for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand however we would like to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum (had me going) and mop, is the most recent version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with two agitators in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pick up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners might overlook.

The Roborock model, like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can alter its course automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has just three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin automatically refills.

The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. You can change the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

In contrast to other robots that are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop simultaneously. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and understand, and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see mapping and floor plans and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It also can detect whether the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This utilizes two mops that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and pick up spills and dirt-stained spots.

The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system has yet to be seen on other robot vacuum cleaner best vacuums and mop models and it could be a useful method of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There are a lot of options, including the option to schedule cleanings and Robot Vacuum change preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers a variety of options for customising your cleaning routine. It also has a number of functions that are not available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this listing but it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice feature.
